Setup instructions for Honeywell PC43 series compact desktop printers. Configure for efficient linerless label printing in retail and logistics.

20 minutes Medium Models: PC43d, PC43t, PC23d

Setup Steps

  1. 1

    Power off the printer

Press and hold the power button until the printer shuts down. Wait for all indicator lights to turn off before proceeding.

  2. 2

    Open the media cover

Grasp the cover release on the front of the printer and pull forward. The cover hinges open to expose the media compartment.

  3. 3

Install linerless platen kit (if required)

If your PC43d doesn't have the linerless option factory-installed, install the Honeywell linerless platen kit. This includes a silicone-coated roller and modified media guides.

Warning: The linerless platen kit is essential. Using linerless media without it will cause adhesive buildup and damage the printer.

  4. 4

    Position the media roll

Place the linerless roll on the media hanger with labels facing upward. Adjust the media guides to match your roll width.

Tip: The print side (thermal coating) should face the print head when the media path is complete.

  5. 5

    Thread through the print mechanism

Route the media under the print head assembly and over the linerless platen roller. Extend approximately 7cm beyond the front of the printer.

  6. 6

    Close the media cover

Press down on the media cover until it clicks securely. The printer should automatically feed a short length of media.

  7. 7

    Configure via PrintSet

Download Honeywell PrintSet from the Honeywell website. Connect to the printer and navigate to Media Settings. Select 'Linerless' as the media type.

  8. 8

    Set media parameters

Configure media width, label length, and print speed. For linerless, set media tracking to 'Continuous' mode.

Tip: Start with medium darkness (8-10) and adjust based on test prints.

  9. 9

    Calibrate media sensors

Run the automatic calibration from PrintSet or use the printer's front panel: hold FEED + CANCEL during power-on.

  10. 10

    Test print

Send a test label from PrintSet or your label design software. Verify print alignment, darkness, and cut position.

Troubleshooting

Media not feeding

Solution: Check that the linerless platen kit is correctly installed. Verify media guides aren't too tight. Run sensor calibration.

Sticky residue on rollers

Solution: Clean all rollers with Honeywell cleaning cards or isopropyl alcohol. Inspect the linerless platen roller for damage.

Print quality issues

Solution: Clean the print head with approved cleaning materials. Adjust print darkness. Check for worn or damaged head elements.

Cutter errors

Solution: Clear any paper fragments from the cutter mechanism. Run the cutter test from PrintSet. If problems persist, the cutter may need servicing.
