EPR 2025 EPR fees are in effect — start saving now
Linerless Paper Rolls crest
Linerless Paper Rolls Ltd

New regulations make liner waste expensive. We make it unnecessary.

UK EPR fees are now in effect for packaging waste — including the 300,000 tonnes of label backing hitting landfill yearly. Linerless rolls eliminate that liability while cutting your label costs 30-40%.

Same 80mm roll, two very different outcomes

Die-cut vs. linerless, plainly shown.

The bars below are a close-up of one roll: light stripes = printed label, tan stripe = backing liner that’s peeled and binned.

DIE-CUT (old way)

Traditional die-cut labels

Printed label Backing liner → trash Zoomed-in view of a few tickets (not to scale)
≈60%

of each roll is liner waste

  • Peel liner, stick label, throw liner away
  • Fixed sizes — waste label space on short orders
  • Need multiple SKUs for different label sizes
  • Liner bins overflow during peak service
LINERLESS (new way)

Linerless sticky media

100% becomes label Zoomed-in view of the same roll length
≈100%

usable label area

  • Print, apply, done — no liner to remove
  • Variable length — cuts exactly where data ends
  • One roll handles every label size
  • Zero waste to landfill

UK EPR is live — act now for 2026

UK packaging fees are now in effect.

Large producers received their first disposal invoices in October 2025. Eco-modulated penalties for hard-to-recycle packaging begin this year.

Silicone liner = RED rating

Die-cut label backing is coated with silicone to release adhesive. This contamination means it cannot be recycled through standard channels and typically goes to landfill.

Silicone liner → landfill → EPR fees
60%

waste per roll

  • Silicone contamination blocks recycling
  • RED rating = 2× disposal fee by 2028
  • Every roll generates billable waste
GREEN rated

No liner = no disposal fee

Linerless labels eliminate backing entirely. Zero liner waste means zero EPR disposal fees for that waste stream, plus likely GREEN rating for the recyclable thermal paper.

100% label → recyclable → no disposal fee
0%

liner waste

  • Zero liner disposal fees
  • Likely GREEN RAM rating (lower base fee)
  • 40% more labels per roll (less packaging overall)
  • Cleaner operations, no liner bins

Eco-Friendly Innovation

Linerless Sticky Media

The sustainable future of thermal printing. Zero backing liner waste, variable-length printing, and up to 40% paper savings. Perfect for QSR order tickets, food labelling, and hospitality applications.

What is Linerless Media?

Linerless (or "sticky media") is direct thermal paper with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the reverse side — like a roll of Post-it notes for your printer. Unlike traditional labels, there's no backing liner to peel off and discard.

Silicone top coating prevents roll from sticking to itself
Variable-length printing — cut to the exact data length
100% of the roll is used — zero liner waste

Compatible Printers Required

Sticky media requires "linerless-compatible" hardware. Standard thermal printers will jam because the adhesive sticks to rubber rollers. Look for these features:

Silicone-coated platen rollers (non-stick)
Anti-jam cutter with non-stick coating
Label Taken Sensor (LTS) to prevent accordion jams

Compatible brands: Star Micronics, Bixolon, Epson (select models), Seiko, Zebra

Key Features of Sticky Thermal Paper

A concise set of essentials—kept icon-free for faster scanning.

Adhesive Backing

Pressure-sensitive adhesive on reverse side — stick labels directly to containers, bags, packaging, or any smooth surface.

Liner-Free Design

No backing liner to peel off and discard. 100% of every roll is usable product — zero waste to landfill.

Repositionable

Remove and reposition without leaving sticky residue. Perfect for temporary labelling, order tickets, and prep labels.

Eco-Friendly

Up to 40% more labels per roll vs traditional die-cut labels. Reduced packaging, shipping weight, and carbon footprint.

Adhesive Options

Choose one—no icons, just the facts.

Removable / Repositionable

Post-it style tack. Clean removal without residue. Ideal for QSR, hospitality, and food labelling.

Permanent

Strong bond for logistics, shipping, and warehouse applications. Used in Zebra ZeroLiner systems.

Patterned (Diamond/Matrix)

Geometric adhesive pattern reduces total glue coverage. Easier removal, less residue on cutter blades.

Common Applications

Linerless sticky media is ideal for any application where labels need quick, clean application.

Got questions?

Everything you need to know about linerless labels and working with us.

What exactly is linerless and why should I care?
Traditional labels have a backing liner you peel off and throw away — that's 40-60% of every roll going straight in the bin. Linerless labels have no backing. The adhesive is protected by a special silicone coating, so the roll doesn't stick to itself. Result: more labels per roll, zero waste, and you stop paying for rubbish.
Only if you have a linerless-compatible printer. Standard thermal printers will jam because the adhesive sticks to the rubber rollers. Linerless printers have silicone-coated rollers and a special non-stick cutter. Major brands: Star Micronics (TSP654II, mC-Label3), Bixolon (SRP-S300/S320), Epson (TM-L90II, TM-L100). Not sure? Send us your model number and we'll check.
This is the killer feature. Traditional die-cut labels are fixed sizes — if your data is short, you waste label space. Linerless prints exactly what you need and cuts there. A simple coffee order might be 40mm. A complex delivery seal with allergy info could be 180mm. Same roll, infinite label sizes.
We offer two adhesive types. Repositionable: sticks firmly but peels clean without residue — perfect for food containers, coffee cups, and order bags. Permanent: serious stick for shipping labels and asset tags. For food service, 95% of customers choose repositionable.
Yes. All our linerless media is 100% BPA-free and phenol-free, meeting strict EU regulations for materials that contact food packaging. They're designed specifically for hospitality and QSR environments where staff handle labels constantly.
It depends on your current setup, but most businesses see 25-40% reduction in total labelling costs. The savings come from: 1) More labels per roll (no liner waste means ~40% more usable media). 2) Consolidating multiple die-cut SKUs into one roll. 3) Reduced labour (no liner to peel). 4) Lower storage and handling costs. We can model your specific savings — send us your current label specifications and volumes.
Order by 2pm for next working day delivery to mainland England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland: 2-3 working days. Free carriage on orders over £75 (ex. VAT). We dispatch from the North West, so businesses in the Midlands and North receive especially quick service. For urgent requirements, please call to discuss express options.
Absolutely. We provide sample packs so you can test compatibility with your specific printers and workflows. For trade accounts, sample costs are credited against your first order. Contact us with your printer models and we'll send the right samples.
